Yale Center for British Art Reinstalls Permanent Collection
Over the summer, the Yale Center for British Art’s Department of Paintings and Sculpture reinstalled the Center’s fourth-floor permanent collection galleries.
February 2005 Center Captures the AIA Twenty-five Year Award for Architecture of Enduring Significance
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has selected the Yale Center for British Art to receive the 2005 AIA Twenty-five Year Award. The prestigious award honors significant architectural landmarks that have withstood the test of time. Only one building in the country is selected each year to receive this honor. The Center is the fifth building by Louis I. Kahn, FAIA, to receive the Twenty-five Year Award from the AIA.

2004 Symposium: Engaging Louis I. Kahn: A Legacy for the Future
Engaging Louis I. Kahn celebrates the 50th anniversary of Kahns first major work the Yale University Art Gallery and the 25th anniversary of his last building the Yale Center for British Art. In addition the symposium will present the most recent scholarship on the architect while exploring the issues surrounding the conservation of his work and its meaning for the future. Participants include a selection of Kahns former clients and collaborators as well as scholars and practitioners best able to shed light
on his enduring importance.

for Groundbreaking Exhibition of 19thCentury Photographs of
Indias Monuments
The Yale Center for British Art is the first United
States venue for a new exhibition of photographs and other representations
of Indian architecture from the British colonial era. Traces of
India: Photography Architecture and the Politics of Representation
(October 16 2003January 11 2004) features superb nineteenth-century
photographs of the great monuments of South Asia along with
engravings prints maps rare books postcards
posters and other unique artifacts.
June 2003 Three Stellar Acquisitions Highlight the 25th Anniversary of the Yale
Center for British Art and Honor Founder Paul Mellon
As the Yale Center for British Art celebrates its 25th anniversary three extraordinary purchases have been made in honor of the Centers founder Paul Mellon (Yale Class of 1929). The objects not only represent the Centers major collectionsRare Books and Manuscripts Prints and Drawings and Paintings and Sculpturebut also reflect Mr. Mellons own personal collecting interests.
February 2003 Angus Trumble Appointed Curator of Paintings and Sculpture
The Yale Center for British Art is pleased to announce the appointment of Angus Trumble to the position of Curator of Paintings and Sculpture. Mr. Trumble succeeds Malcolm Warner who now serves as senior curator at the Kimbell Museum in Fort Worth Texas and Acting Curator Julia Marciari Alexander who has been promoted to Associate Director for Programmatic Affairs.
